I’ve mentioned Callaway Gardens and the Summer Family Adventure program a few times now on the blog, but this past weekend I got to relive some of the memories during those 13 years with my partners in crime, Chris and Alison.

We would spend 1 week a year together for 8 straight years and basically grew up together.  Between Callaway visits Alison and I would write letters, then chat on AIM, email, and finally message and catch up on Facebook — my how the times changed and made it easier to communicate!

Friday afternoon Alison and I made the trek to Winter Park, Fl and after some time in traffic, we both finally made it. Chris, being the great cousin and host,  picked us up and took us back to his apartment to meet his girlfriend, Brittany, and have a drink before grabbing food.

The 3 of us hadn’t been together in 5 years, so needless to say, there was a LOT of talking, laughing, and catching up.  At 12:30am we realized we had been talking for hours and should probably get dinner before every restaurant was closed except Prato.  We spent the rest of the night eating, drinking, reminiscing, and explaining all the trouble we used to get in through the years at Callaway to Brittany.

Saturday morning we got bagels from the farmer’s market and walked around Park Avenue in Winter Park.  Although it was pretty chilly (especially for Florida), we spent most of the day wandering around outside. We had to have margaritas to pretend we were at San Marcos, and then headed to downtown Orlando for sushi and drinks.

The weekend flew by and next thing you know, we were getting brunch with Uncle Mark, who happened to stop in town, at Briar Patch on Park Avenue in Winter Park.

It was a GREAT weekend with old and new friends, and we’re looking forward to the next reunion — Charleston??  photo 5
