St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah is a big holiday, but this year’s celebration was extra special — my childhood best friend got engaged!  Katie and I have known each other since elementary school, and played soccer together for years so when Kyle reached out to a group of her closest friends about coming in town for a surprise engagement, I was definitely going to be there.

The plan was to be there when Kyle proposed, so Hunter and I headed down from Charleston, and others came from all over the southeast to be there.  Most of us met at Kyle and Bryce’s place, where Kyle’s Coast Guard and hometown friends were already gathered.  This was also where Hunter got to meet a crew of PTC friends: Tannah, Kelley, and Emily.  Then we headed to an Irish bar to meet Mrs. J, her sister Beth, and PA school friends, and wait.

Then as Kyle and Katie were dancing, we quietly piled in behind her for the big moment.  Just as Katie was realizing something was going on, Kyle got on a knee and proposed!  Then we all cried – laughed – yelled and started congratulating the newly engaged couple.

The rest of the night was a huge celebration with Katie and Kyle’s closest friends, and if it was a preview of the wedding, then we’ll all have a FUN time.  Let the wedding festivities begin!
