One of my absolute favorite meals growing up, besides pizza, is spaghetti. Even now Pegs will make sure to have sauce ready for when I come home so we can enjoy a big meal together. When asking family members for recipes for my frame, Grandmom sent back the spaghetti recipe since she knew it was a favorite. I didn’t even realize that hers was slightly different than what I grew up on — I was a picky eater.
Grandmom’s Spaghetti Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 1/2 C chopped onion
- 3/4 C chopped green pepper
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 3, 8oz cans tomato sauce
- 1, 6oz can tomato paste
- 1/3 C water
- 1 T worcester sauce
- 1 1/2 t salt
- dash of pepper
Brown the ground beef and drain the fat. Then mix all the ingredients in a big pot and simmer for at least an hour, covered and stirring occasionally. Cook some noodles and top them with sauce and parmesan!
Edits: The version of the recipe I have from my mom doesn’t include onion or peppers. This time around we added some mushrooms to the mix, Hunter’s request. There’s also a dash of red pepper flakes and some parsley, for good measure.
I hope you enjoy this spaghetti meat sauce as much as our family does!
