This year for birthdays, we had an art theme –> Hunter gave me a sea turtle piece from a local artist for my birthday that will look awesome in our master bedroom, and mentioned a piece that he would want on his side of the master.  I tucked that piece of information away in my head until after Christmas.

Turns out Hunter’s old roommate, Box, had a painting of fish on a window that he got from an artist up near Pawley’s Island.  Box pointed me to Charleston Angler, where he had seen some of her work, and an older employee there knew her name so I could find her website –> Amanda McLenon.  The search was over.

Luckily Amanda answers her contact form requests very quickly and we were able to chat a little and set up a time to check out her studio.  I decided to take Hunter along to meet her, see her work, and pick out a piece.

After meeting her and looking through her pieces, Hunter decided to have a custom piece made, similar to a redfish painting she already had.  He picked out the window pane (the white frame goes better with our bedroom color), then they discussed what he wanted.  Amanda even sent a few pictures as she progressed with the painting to make sure it was exactly what he wanted.

We were both excited to pick it up and hang it this weekend!

Thanks Amanda for the one of a kind present!  The gold looks great with our new curtains and I love how you can see the wall color through the window pane.  We’ll definitely be repeat customers — I love the map pieces too!

You can check out more of Amanda’s work on her website, or at the Mills House hotel during SEWE this February!

PS- My painting is being framed, and will be hung soon!
