Most of you know about the tragedy that occurred in Charleston this June, and that our community has risen above the hate and chosen to spread love instead. There have been countless fundraisers and events that are raising money for the victims’ families, and the largest one is ‘A Community United,’ which is a joint effort being put on by the hospitality industry in Charleston.
‘A Community United‘ is an event this Thursday night at Charleston Place, which features a massive auction, where all of the profits will be donated to the families. The last time they did this for the Charleston 9 firefighters, they raised over $600,000, and are hoping to give even more this time around.
Why am I telling you about this? Two reasons –> A co-worker is neighbors with the event coordinator, and they were looking for items for the auction. Dan reached out to a few of us at work that had side businesses, to see if we’d be interested in donating an item for the auction. I had a seashell wreath that I didn’t know what to do with, so it’s now part of the auction!
The second reason, is that you don’t have to go to the event on Thursday to take part in the auction — all the items are available online too! There are some awesome items there, so check it out here.
I’m happy the Charleston community is still coming together, and showing that love wins!
