Six of us girls hosted a baby shower for our friend Maggie recently. As I mentioned, this was the first baby shower most of us had attended or hosted before, so we were figuring things out while planning it.
Food + Drink
We ended up doing a children’s book theme with the food and drink, so every dish was linked back to a children’s book, like “Green Eggs & Ham” with ham sandwiches. “Where the Wild Things Are” went with the mimosa bar which was the funniest to me. Callee made my favorite snack of the party – hummus or ranch cups with carrot sticks, celery and bell pepper slices sticking out the top. They went with the Peter Rabbit book.
Since baby Riggs is a boy, we went with blue, white & gray decor. I attempted to channel my best inner Maggie and made a chalkboard to welcome guests at the door. Erin & Callee hung paper lanterns and pom poms from the ceiling over the food table and my onesie garland hung from the fireplace, by all the gifts. We had cake pops as favors for guests, and asked everyone to sign another children’s book as a group gift to Riggs.
The food was great, decor was cute and I’d say it was a huge success for our first baby shower! Congratulations, Maggie — we can’t wait to meet baby Riggs!
