Before the Olympics, I started making Kelley O’Hara fan club shirts to be worn all over the world while the US women’s soccer team went for another gold medal. Then I talked to Kelley about them and we teamed up to make it a charitable cause where 100% of proceeds would go to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
Now that the Olympics are over and Giving Tuesday is tomorrow, I thought I’d give an update on the success of the shirts!
At this point, 40 shirts have been sold! Since the first several were sold to family & friends at cost and screen printing required an upfront cost, the current donation to St. Jude is just under $100. I hope to sell the remaining 17 shirts before I make the donation since 99% of their cost goes straight to a donation. Either way I’m cutting them a check in December and hope to make it as large as possible!
I also loved seeing some of the photos of people wearing their shirts around the country – below are a few favorites.
You can still find the shirts in my Etsy shop, and I hope you think about getting one to support both St. Jude and the US Women’s National team (and Kelley) this Giving Tuesday!
