We just enjoyed a fun weekend in Debordieu for our friend’s wedding and then celebrating our own anniversary!
After a busy day at work on Friday, I headed an hour up the coast to Debordieu for Liz & Blake’s wedding. I had never been so was looking forward to exploring a new area!
Right after getting in, we went to dinner at Frank’s Outback with Catherine and Jim. The place was so cute – like a big covered patio with lots of plants. I loved the tuna nachos appetizer and my meatballs and farfelle and everyone else enjoyed their dishes too
After dinner we headed back to their beach club for a cocktail welcome party. It was nice seeing friends and parents before the wedding. Saturday morning the guys played golf while Catherine and I lounged and Lauren was doing bridesmaid things. We met the guys for lunch at the Grill House (the pretzel sticks were bomb) and then the rain came. Lots of it.
Unfortunately they had to move the ceremony inside, but eventually the storm passed and we were able to enjoy the veranda and dance floor in the tent outside. We all had lots of fun dancing, eating and catching up with everyone!
Sunday was our one year wedding anniversary – I can’t believe it’s already been a year! Since we had the wedding Friday / Saturday, we decided to have a little staycation in Charleston on Sunday night and take Monday off from work.
We stayed in the cutest inn off King Street, Fulton Lane Inn. The inn has complimentary breakfast brought to your room, plus a wine & cheese happy hour so I knew it’d be a winner. We checked in and them headed out to grab some appetizers and watch basketball and golf at Charleston Place’s new sports bar, Meeting at Market. We ordered their jalapeño bacon (duh) and then a cheese board to snack on plus some craft beers. The bacon had a serious kick to it!
My good friend from college, Kristen, and her husband, parents and new lil baby were in town for her birthday and Mother’s Day so they stopped by after dinner so we could meet Griffin! He’s such a lil babe and it was cool seeing my friends as parents now.
We wandered around the city afterwards and went to another patio to have a drink and hang outside. It was fun being a tourist in our own city for a change!
We came back to the hotel and were surprised with some champagne and a sweet note from the hotel to commemorate our anniversary!
Honestly, the best treat was being able to sleep in on Monday morning. We enjoyed breakfast, laid around and eventually checked out and walked around King Street for a little bit. We grabbed lunch in Mt. Pleasant and relaxed at home the rest of the day, plus I got a lot of crafts done with the spare time.
All in all it was a wonderful long weekend celebrating friends and enjoying our own anniversary!
