The cooler temperatures and upcoming guests inspired me to do a little fall planting and update the beds and pots in our yard. Back in June we played in the dirt and planted some summer plants. We maintained that most of the summer, but the heat took out the lavender and squirrels started destroying my hanging baskets in the front. Needless to say, it was time for a refresh..
One Saturday morning, I headed to Lowe’s and came home with quite a few plants. I had to get brand new bottoms for the hanging baskets thanks to the squirrels and added potting soil and some pansies & small mums.
Because it’s fall, I added some pumpkins & gourds to the front porch and hung my cotton boll wreath as well. I think I might make something tall for the corner on the right side of the door too… Not sure what yet though.
I also potted some white mums in the Wilds planter (or drink cooler) our friends gave us that has been sitting empty on our screened porch. Now I just need to remember to water them..
In the back, I dug up all the plants around the deck and replaced them with 6 purple mums (see a theme?). The 2 pots by the deck stair also were completely replaced with new potting soil, then rosemary, white pansies and purple & green kale to tie in with the purple mums.
When Hunter was home from golfing he mowed, weed eated & edged the yard which made my plants look even better! Can’t wait for everything to bloom and hopefully last through the winter. New yard, new rules – so I’ll be watching how everything does..
