It’s officially after Thanksgiving and I’m starting to share the DIY details of the projects from my Christmas table setting! I loved seeing all the different products from Chip & Joanna’s Hearth & Hand collection at Target, but was really drawn to the green linens.  I picked up the place mats and some dish towels and was proud I restrained myself.

There were other things I really liked, but didn’t need, so made the adult decision to not buy them (Hunter was very happy about this).  When I was thinking about my Christmas setting, I thought the place mats could use a lil gold accent, so that’s exactly what I added!

Christmas Tree Place Mat

What you’ll need:

After coming home from Target that night with some scores from the Dollar Spot and Chip & Joanna’s collection, I thought I would add some trees as a gold embellishment to the place mats.  There was a tree on the wooden coaster from the dollar spot, so I tried to find a Christmas tree image like that online, saved it and uploaded it into Design Space as a cut image.

I wanted 3 of the trees, so duplicated the image twice and rearranged and resized 2 to be smaller and spaced them like below.  I attached all 3 images together and then resized that to be 3.5″ wide so it’d fit nicely at the bottom right side of the place mat.

Chose to cut the design and make sure to mirror it since it’s iron on.  I was able to use some scrap gold htv I had on hand for this which was great.  Put the htv on your mat (shiny side down) and cut!

When your design is cut, weed out the excess with your weeder tool.  Turn your EasyPress on to 305 degrees and warm up the placemat where you’ll apply your trees first.  Then put your trees down and apply the EasyPress for 30 seconds.  Slowly remove the clear backing and make sure the trees are attached to the place mat.

Now you have a more festive place mat!  I love how the trees on the place mat tied into the wooden coaster and tree centerpiece.

I can’t wait to pull my Christmas table setting out to use for our everyday meals to add a lil bit of festiveness to dinner time!  Since the trees don’t seem too Christmas-y, I may be able to keep them out through January too 🙂
