Bachelorette season is backkkkk and with a tropical vibe! We just celebrated my friend, Catherine’s bachelorette weekend in Florida and of course I had to make a few things for it. Her sister asked me to help with some cups for everyone and a banner for the house and we decided to do a tropical feel with palm trees since we would be in Ft. Lauderdale!

Palm Tree Personalized Cups
What you’ll need:
- Pink vinyl
- Green vinyl
- Tan vinyl
- Cricut Maker
- Weeder tool
- Transfer paper
- Scraper tool
- Cups with lid
When I made these tropical philodendron cups in September I sent Catherine a picture because they seemed right up her alley. She loved the colors so when her sister and I were talking about the design on the cups, I had an idea of what I wanted to do. The only requirements were bright pink & green, so we opted for palm trees and I started designing.
First I looked in Design Space’s database for a good palm tree. I found one (#M3AE75) and then updated the colors to match my design.
Then I typed out a name – I did a few fonts and sent a screenshot to my friends and they picked their favorite that you see below. Since this was a scripty font, I needed to ungroup the word to letters and individually move all the letters to connect them, and then weld all of them together to create 1 image. I then resized the names and palm tree to make sure they would fit on the side of my cups.
I repeated for each name and updated the color of the names to a bright pink so I could see the design together. Boom. Now it’s time to cut your vinyl with your Cricut.
When everything is cut on the 3 different colors of vinyl, cut out each design and weed the excess vinyl away using your weeder tool so you’ll have 3 pieces per cup (tree, palm leaves and name).
Since there are multiple pieces of vinyl, you’ll apply them to the cup in stages. I cut a piece of transfer paper to be the size of the palm tree, put it on top of the design, used the scraper to make sure it’s on there well and removed the backing from the vinyl. Apply the vinyl sideways, toward the bottom of your cup. Rub it so you know it’s on there well and then slowly remove the transfer paper from the cup.
I did the same steps for the name and applied it going up the side of the cup next. Finally, I applied the green palm leaves right on the top of the palm tree – it should line up perfectly. Repeat for each cup!
These were perfect for our trip while we lounged around the house and pool area and I love using these types of cups at home as well – great for golf cart rides 😉 I also love how bright the colors were and worked together with the rest of the decor. They turned out tropical and bright and were a great gift for everyone on the trip!
You can find the project on Design Space here and personalize your own cups for a tropical event!
FYI the hyperlinks for most of the materials don’t work. I also noticed that this is happening on your last few posts.
Oh no – thanks for the heads up! I’ll have to go back and re do them
