It’s that time of the week again – One Room Challenge update time!  While last week included the end of patching & beginning of sanding, this week was almost all sanding & painting.  One of my good friends was married over the weekend so we had friends in town and four nights full of activities, plus we prepped & laid sod in the front yard.. so this “week” was really just about 6 hours of work on Monday & Tuesday after work.

This is the official completed list from those 6 hours of work:

  • Sanded all 50+ areas on the walls
  • Sanded the ceiling
  • Sanded the cabinet & shelf
  • Bought all of our paint!
  • Primed the walls
  • Primed the ceiling
  • Bought laundry hamper
  • Bought replacement air vent

And here’s what the room looks like, as of Wednesday morning:

The primer paint made a huge difference, right?? Already looks 100x better just having the ceiling and walls white.  It also shows how dated & yellow-y the floor is..

Next week is the final week of the One Room Challenge, so we’ll be revealing the finished laundry room.  We’ve come a far way, but clearly have our work cut out for us in the next 7 days considering what it looks like right now.  What’s on our punch list? Prime the cabinet & doors, paint the ceiling (2 coats), install overhead light, replace air vent, paint the walls (2 coats), buy & install new flooring, buy, measure, cut & install crown molding, trim and base boards, replace all outlet & light switch covers, put together and place the laundry hamper.

Phew. That should keep us busy, especially since we’re both of out town this weekend… Here’s to hoping we get it all done and I can share a beautifully renovated laundry room with you next week!  Don’t forget to check out the other ORC rooms in the link up here.
