Happy July!  I can’t believe we’re already in the 7th month of the year… this year has been flying by.  On Wednesday we were trying to figure out what to do for this 4th of July since it’s in the middle of the week and we have to work the day before and after and decided to skip the beach (too busy) and just keep it in the neighborhood.  We’ll play golf, hang at the pool then come back to our place to grill out with friends.  Not a bad plan, right?

After deciding to have friends over, I figured I should do a lil decorating since I hadn’t brought anything out yet..  Starting from the foyer, I swapped out some items I already had, like my DIY starfish American flag, and added a flag to the vase.  My furry assistant checked everything out the second I rearranged things.

In the living room I decorated the mantle with a banner from Michael’s, a wooden star, nautical decor I already had and my Land of the Free pillow I made earlier was on the couch.  I actually didn’t make the banner (although it looks homemade).  I found this one on sale for $3.50 and that seemed more than worth my time, especially since I was on a time crunch!

I love getting fresh flowers and am always a sucker for baby’s breath because white goes with everything and you can put it in any size vase.  I split some up between some blueish glass vases (aka a pitcher, mason jar & measuring vase) and put them around the kitchen and in the window.  I pulled out my patriotic pelican dish towel from my Grandma and paired it with a cute turkish hand towel I snagged at Hobby Lobby for $3.

The fun part was on the counter..  When I was going through some of my decor I saw a bald eagle beanie baby in the closet and pulled it out and put some American flag glasses on top to go with my updated letter board. Boom, we’re ready to go!

Not bad for pulling that together after work on Wednesday!  The few new things I bought were all on sale and can be used throughout the year – a requirement if I purchase instead of make it myself.  I still have plans to make a little star wreath, so we’ll see if I can get that made and share it with you before the Fourth..
