It’s officially Christmas season, so before you put presents under your tree I have a quick handprint Christmas tree skirt craft for yall with kids!

Our faux tree base is too wide for the galvanized tree collar we made in 2014, so I’ve used a neutral tree skirt the last few years. It’s nothing special, but adding our family’s hand prints to it made it a keepsake.

Handprint Christmas Tree Skirt

What you’ll need:

  • Christmas tree skirt
  • White fabric paint
  • Paint brush
  • Paper plate
  • Black fabric paint

This will only take a few minutes to do, so don’t worry if you have a crazy nugget running around. Pour some of the white paint in a paper plate and paint the hand of each family member. Be generous with the paint.

Place your hands on the tree skirt, going up in a line. Make sure there’s enough paint showing up so you can see the hands. Then add the year to the side in black paint.

Done!

After it dries, put it under your tree. Each year add your hand prints and watch how the younger ones get bigger!

It’s nothing crazy and will be covered with gifts, but I’m looking forward to seeing our hands each year and adding to the tree skirt 🙂

Update: We did our hand prints for 2021 and added to the skirt! I should have put more paint on our hands so we attempted to touch it up some.. but hand prints are there!
