Back in May, the PGA Tour came to Charleston when Kiawah Island hosted the PGA Championship at The Ocean Course! The last time they were here was in 2012, so we took advantage and got tickets.

The 2 of us did a day date at the Tuesday practice round and had a blast following the pros around. I loved watching how they prepared, especially on and around the green. Although there were no hand shakes / high fives or autographs, they were very interactive with fans and we even “talked at” Hunter’s favorite, Jordan Speith, when he came to our area on 17.

Note: With vaccines behind us and this being an outdoor event, masks weren’t required in most places. This was the most “normal” thing we had done in a long time and it was so nice. The limited tickets were also a plus since it wasn’t very crowded and you got so close to the players.

We took nugget out there on Saturday morning, knowing that it would likely be a short day, but it was also awesome to say his first golf tournament was here. We went first thing and walked out on the front nine. He did great minus a few meltdowns toward the end… as Speith was coming by.

Sorry for the crying baby when you teed off on 7, Jordan….We left right after that.

His favorite parts were definitely the buses, playing in the sand, checking out all the CBS golf carts (and their friendly drivers) and watching the birds.

It’s so cool that a PGA event was here and that we could take advantage of it. If you have a chance – do it! I definitely recommend going to a practice round and do bring your kid if you can.

Congrats to Phil on the awesome win!
