Our family, like many, has a thing for cardinals. After my dad passed away there were several occasions where we’d see a cardinal on days we really missed him or big life experiences. Mom even found a red feather on one of his sport coats when going through his closet. Whenever I see them, I know he’s with me.
We have some cardinals that hang out in our yard and call them Bill and Karen after our parents. We have told nugget about them too (one day we may have to deal with him telling people his grandpa and grandma are red birds, but we’ll deal with it 😂).
Yesterday I had him color with some red, brown and orange crayons and then used my Cricut (aff link) to cut out a cardinal shape from his drawing. I added card stock and a frame to complete nugget’s first cardinal.
Such a quick and easy way to turn crayon art into something so special & meaningful.
