I can’t believe our friends’ baby (and the first baby in our friend group) is already one year old! Time really seems to speed up the older we get.. Anyways, we were invited to Riggs’ first birthday party recently and Maggie made it a “Wild One” theme, so I decided to jazz up the plain white gift bag I had on hand with a personal touch!

Monster Gift Bag
What you’ll need:
- 8″ x 11″ piece of white card stock
- 8″ x 11″ piece of green card stock
- 8″ x 11″ piece of dark brown card stock
- 8″ x 11″ piece of tan card stock
- Cricut Maker
- White gift bag
- Glue
I picked up a few pieces of card stock from Michael’s and looked for a cute monster image in Design Space to cut. I decided on this cute little monster that seemed like a mix of the Toy Story aliens and a Wild Thing. Then I resized the image to be 6″ wide to fit the bag well.
After I had my monster image, I decided to add Riggs’ name to the design as well, so I added text and typed it out in the Cricut Sans font and resized it to be 6″ wide as well.
Now you’re ready to cut! Cricut will separate everything out by color so look at the image to decide what color you want want, load that piece of card stock on your standard mat, choose the “Card stock” setting and cut!
With all the pieces cut out from the card stock, it was time to glue them all together. I had the image on my computer screen so I knew where everything went, and there were also small guideline cuts that outlined where some of the card stock would layer as well. When I finished gluing, the lil monster was done! You can still see some of the glue, but it dried clear 🙂
Then I glued the monster & the name to the white gift bag. I placed a book on top while it was drying to add a little pressure so it adhered well.
Like normal, Cleo came to check out the project when it was done..
I just needed to put our present inside, add some tissue paper and we were ready for the party!
I have a feeling I’ll be decorating all my plain white bags now because I love how this turned out!
Happy 1st birthday, Riggs!!
So adorable! Gift bags are such a treat, I’m not sure why, but I love’em! Thanks for sharing this, I’ll sure try it!
I love them too – and the personalized ones are extra special because I know someone put a little more thought into it! Glad you liked 🙂
